I'm trying to gauge demand for OSC touch surface enabled Reaktor ensembles. Please vote in the poll to the left and make yourself heard! Have I left out any options? Anything else you'd like to say on the subject? Do leave a comment.
Hi David, you might want to check out control which is free, runs on all iOS devices and outputs both MIDI and OSC. I just discovered it myself so don't have much to say about it yet...
Konkreet Performer + TouchOSC are fantastic, i think a custom control unit featuring two iPads would be an awesome project in the future. My main issue with OSC is lack of support with DAWS. I think for us Windows users the best solution would probably be an audio card with an internal mix function + Reaktor using ASIO4all driver
James, you mean so you can run Reaktor in parallel with a DAW? I've done that with ASIO4all and it worked reasonably well... it's too bad native ASIO drivers in Windows aren't multiclient (has this changed in Windows 7? I haven't done much audio work in Win7).
There are also PD patches that can be used to translate OSC to MIDI if you don't mind losing resolution... but the real solution is universal support for OSC. That should start with plugins, if the DAW developers are too stodgy.
And speaking of which there's just no excuse for Reaktor not to support OSC in its plugin version!
Yes please. I'd love to see an easy way to control Event Table based "graph" sequencers in Reaktor ensembles with iOS controller apps like TouchOSC and Control (OSC + MIDI).
One of my current projects is to find the best ways to integrate Reaktor sequencers with OSC touch surfaces. There are some rather obvious ways to do this with "knobs" in TouchOSC mapped to knobs in Reaktor for an analogue style sequencer, but that's kind of boring. Graph type sequencers yield more possibilities for strange and interesting results... more on that soon!
Hello, Maybe some alternative, there's some correct cheap multitouch screen now and if you add sensomusic Usine you can have a big Ipad like...? Check this video illustrating OSC integration with Reaktor : http://vimeo.com/22515812
If I had a fullblown computer with a touchscreen I'd just straight up run Reaktor on it, and make a custom interface designed for touch using Reaktor gui elements like XY controllers.
Of course Peter, but we don't always want/have time to transform all ensembles we use, i'm a sampler pack ( your's ) user and it's quickest for me to addd OSc support than to redraw all...:-)
On the OSC support point, my next release of these will have OSC pre-configured as much as possible. It looks like there are enough people using it to warrant the work...
I picked "I don't have an iPad or iPhone" since I'm not using any control surface. Even though I've got an iPhone, I haven't tried it.
